The Day the Republican Party Imploded

I remember the first George W. Bush election. I was in college and when it was finally announced, after several days of waiting by the t.v. and radio, that Bush was our new president. People were in the streets swearing - We are going to war! And this was before 911. We knew that 4 years of doom would follow.
Imagine my surprise two years ago when he got reelected. I was truly in shock and awe. I couldn't believe that I was living in a county that allowed such apathy.
We took back the house today. We took back the senate today. Rumsfeld has resigned. I voted. I was counted. I am relieved.
And the flood waters in Washington crested last night and fell this morning. As though the earth was sighing in relief.
